Shows California as an island and depicts the east coast fairly accurately, particularly between Chesapeake Bay and Cape Cod, providing such names as "Iames Citti" and "Henrico" in Virginia, in addition to the early settlement of "Plymouth" in New England.
Shows the eastern tips of Europe and Africa in the east.
Decorative borders depict eight town plans along the top, including Mexico City, Havana, Cartegena, and Rio de Janeiro, in addition to five portraits of figures that appear on each side. Virginia's figure is represented in the second section from the top on the left border.
Indicated at the bottom, toward the center, is the "unknowne world," now Antarctica.
Lists a number of Indian villages (Indian groups).
Similar in style to Blaeu's Americae nova tabula, published between 1621 and 1663.
Text on verso: "The description of America" with signature "E;" "10" in upper left corner, "9" in upper right corner.
State 4, according to Burden; imprint includes the names of Thomas Bassett and Richard Chiswell.
Appears in the author's A prospect of the most famous parts of the world.
Inset: Baffins Bay area, including Greenland, Iceland, and North Pole.
Includes a note below inset mentioning the inclusion of the North Pole.
